Volunteering in Hawaii

April is Earth Month in America! This time in particular is a time to raise awareness around the issues that affect nature.
 
For our students, they had the opportunity to learn and help to make Hawaii a better place through volunteering. Some previous opportunities were the Waikiki Aquarium Coastal Clean up in February and the Waikiki Aquarium’s 120^th Birthday Beach Clean up in March. On the first Saturday of each month, the Kokua Learning Farm holds a volunteer workday where they work on various projects while learning about sustainability in the islands and supporting local food systems. On April 13^th, the Waikiki Aquarium held a Mauka to Makai Earth Day event to promote the importance of keeping Hawaii clean and free of pollution from the mountains (mauka) to the ocean (makai).

And on April 23^rd, in celebration of Earth Day (April 22^nd), our Student Services Coordinator organized a beach clean up event at Ala Moana Beach.
