Two leading schools in Hawaii join forces to provide an even more comprehensive English language learning environment.

HONOLULU, Hawaii – Global Village Hawaii (GV Hawaii) and the Institute of Intensive English (IIE Hawaii) are two highly regarded schools that have provided English language education in Hawaii to students from around the world for a combined total of more than 60 years. We are pleased to announce that the two schools will integrate and make a new start as Global Village IIE Hawaii.
As part of this integration, Housenka Group, which has an extensive track record in the fields of education and healthcare in Japan and overseas, will make a new investment and participate in the new operating structure. With the stable financial foundation this provides, we will make ongoing investments in long-term school operations, academic programs, and student services, thereby continuing to contribute to our students, partner organizations, and the local Hawaii community.

School Integration and Campus Relocation

On October 26, 2026, IIE Hawaii’s operations and students are scheduled to be officially integrated into the Global Village Hawaii campus. The campus is conveniently located across from Ala Moana Center and close to Waikiki and major transportation hubs. It offers an open learning environment with ocean views.

New Management Structure

  • Eric Lum will serve as President of Global Village IIE Hawaii.
  • Ed Lee, Executive Director of IIE Hawaii, will serve as Director of International Business Development and Institutional Relations. In this important strategic role, he will maintain relationships with partners around the world and uphold the school’s educational standards.

  • Accreditation: Accredited by CEA (Commission on English Language Program Accreditation)

  • Further enhanced programs: General English, Cambridge English exam preparation, the small-group elective class (English in Paradise), seasonal Kids and Teens programs, Bildungsurlaub(Germany’s educational leave program), programs for students aged 50 and over, pathways to the University of Hawaii, and courses combining English study with activities such as surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, hula, and ukulele
  • A diverse range of school activities: A full monthly extracurricular activity program featuring cultural experiences, beach yoga, surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, hula, hiking, volunteer activities, snorkeling, sunset cruises, and more

  • Learning environment: A strong English-only policy and a multinational learning environment with a well-balanced mix of nationalities
  • Official test center: An official test center for Cambridge English Qualifications

Handling of Current and Future Applications

All confirmed enrollment applications at either school, including classes, accommodation, and other services, will be transferred to Global Village IIE Hawaii.
The two schools are working together to ensure a smooth transition so that currently enrolled students and students scheduled to enroll in the future can continue or begin their studies with confidence.
